Ants on a Log

Our bug cooking for this week was made using celery, peanut butter, and raisins. Students had fun learning to spread with a knife while making their own snack.

Bee Puppets

Our bumble bees were made with yellow & black construction paper, wiggle eyes, tounge depressor, and wax paper. Students practiced putting all the parts together to make their own buzzing bee.

St. Patrick's Day

Leperchaun hats, magic shamrock wands, green smoothies, and kiwi tasting. This is how we spent our St. Patrick's Day at school this year. Some silly leperchaun even left green coins for us in the sandbox! What a fun day.

Our Boots

B is also for boots. We have been getting a lot of use out of our boots this month with our wet weather. Since so much sand and dirt stick to them, we have started keeping them right next to the door to lessen the things we track inside. This was a nice picture of them all lined up.

B is For Bug

We used our fingers stamped in washable ink to marks all over our papers. Then we added some legs to make our own crawling little bugs.

The Bug

A big bug visited our outside play area early this week. He had had a run in with the swimming pool and was drying out his wings on a tree. It was fun to watch him fan around and look at all his bug features. What a great way to kick off our bug unit!

Daylight Savings

Springs daylight savings is just as hard for little ones as it is for adults. Our students showed this through their morning play time by setting up their naptime blankets and pretending to sleep. It was a fun and lazy morning and everyone was happy to see the real naptime arrive at noon.

C is for Cooking

And what better 'C' thing to bake than a croissant. Each of our little bakers got to make their own croissant for snack. We took parchment paper squars and traced a 'C' shape onto the back of each paper. Then little fingers and hands got busy pressing their croissant dough onto the letter 'C' that showed through the front of the parchment. This was a tasty way to touch, smell, and taste all the elements of the letter C!

One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

We made a pattern out of our red and blue construction paper fish and then practiced numbering them 1-10.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

To celebrate the birthday of a great author we made our very own 'Cat in the Hat' hats! A sentence strip held the hat around our heads and construction paper was used to make the body and stripes of the hat. Then we gathered around to listen to the story that inspired our hats.
